The "Sunday Morning Breakfast Test" Test
Here are some less-than-appetizing entries that don't pass my SMBT:

MUCUS
PHLEGM
BARF
PUKE
VOMIT
SMEGMA
FART

The question is: which one has appeared in the NY Times? (Answer in comments)

Which words are on your SMBT?

Answer:

PHLEGM appeared in a Robert H. Wolfe puzzle on March 29, 1998. To be fair, it was quite an impressive theme.

Testicles, scrotum, glans, feces.

Tony O. and I were talking about a theme that would fail the SMBT. He came up with a nice threesome of entries, but alas, the lengths don't match up symmetrically.

I was going to guess PHLEGM, since it's one of the four humors.

BARF

I know BARF has appeared in the New York Sun because it was in one of my puzzles. Peter actually accepted my clue of "Blow chunks" too, just to make it worse.
